Simon Lam appointed new Director of Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI)

BCIT is pleased to announce that Simon Lam has accepted the role of Director, Respect, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI), effective June 30, 2025. Simon has been in the role in an acting capacity since March 2025.

Simon is well known to many in the BCIT community as a highly visible and accessible leader. You can find Simon regularly attending employee and student events, collaborating with Schools and departments across the Institute, or having lunch at the Gathering Place. Simon brings a passion for helping people, solving problems, and building relationships and connection. Simon’s leadership will focus on building safe, inclusive environments through critical initiatives such as anti-racism, accessibility, preventing and responding to sexualized violence, conflict management, and respect in the workplace.

Simon previously served as the BCIT Associate Director, Student Life and brings leadership experience from his time with the University of British Columbia and University of Toronto. Simon holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Criminology from Simon Fraser University. He has also completed training in learning design, forensic experiential trauma, interview methodology, and Indigenous cultural safety.
