The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been recognized with two national awards at the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) Prix d’Excellence for its fall 2024 recruitment campaign, Better Future. The campaign earned Gold in the Best Advertisement or Poster category and Silver in Best Photograph.
The Better Future campaign emphasizes the impact of a BCIT education in preparing students for careers that make a difference. The campaign highlights BCIT as the starting point for students to build a better and purposeful future.
One of the campaign’s tactics was a high school mural featuring alumna Aileen Maynard, now working for Hedgehog Technologies. The mural, which received a Gold designation in the Best Advertisement or Poster category, was recognized for its compelling storytelling. It highlights Aileen’s work on the Tll Yahda Energy Solar Array Project led by the Haida Nation, with the message “The future is yours for the making.”
The award-winning photograph, also featuring Aileen, exemplifies the campaign’s emphasis on applied learning and industry impact. The photograph was commended for capturing a striking and inspirational image that illustrates Aileen’s work in the community.
“These awards are a testament to the creativity and dedication of our Marketing and Communications team – illustrating the meaningful impact that our graduates have on communities across BC and beyond,” said Lara Johnson, Associate Vice President, Marketing and Communications. “Our work captures BCIT’s vision of empowering people, shaping BC, and inspiring global progress.”
