People Plan

Caring for our people. Strengthening BCIT together.

Aligned with BCIT’s mission, vision, and values, the People Plan prioritizes wellbeing, growth, belonging, and transformation.

Developing the plan

A critical step in creating the People Plan was seeking your feedback. In early 2026, we asked our BCIT community for input through extensive consultations. It was this input, gathered through online ThoughtExchanges, live discussions, and department meetings that solidified the foundation for the People Plan’s pillars and initiatives.

Our objective: for the Plan to reflect what matters most to you when it comes to your work and employee experience at BCIT.

Chris Hudson, Vice President of People, Culture, and Inclusion

“The People Plan reflects what we heard from you, our BCIT community, about what you need to thrive: healthier ways of working, opportunities to grow and learn, a culture where everyone belongs, and the support to thoughtfully lead and navigate change. Through its pillars, we aimed to demonstrate the care we have for one another, for the students whose success we inspire, and for this community we call our own. When we strengthen how we work together, we strengthen BCIT.”

Shared direction

The BCIT plans and visions work together to guide our work, and they shaped the development of the People Plan. While each plays a different role, they are connected and mutually reinforcing.

Together these documents align our goals, support our people and students, and guide everyday decisions across the Institute.
