RBC Foundation’s $400K gift gives students an edge

The RBC Foundation team visited BCIT this month to deliver a $400,000 gift towards BCIT’s INSPIRE comprehensive Campaign. The gift is designated to enhance existing Work-Integrated Learning programs and the new Career Edge program offered at BCIT’s Centre for Workplace Education (CWE). These programs teach students employment preparation skills and strategic job search methods that will lead to work experience and give them a competitive advantage upon graduation.

One program that will benefit from their generous support is Power Engineering. Power engineers operate, maintain, and manage industrial plants that use pressurized equipment such as refrigeration units and boilers. BCIT is the largest provider of Power Engineering education and training in BC. In this photo, Power and Process Career Edge student Drew Noftle shows RBC Foundation visitors a Cleaver Brooks firetube boiler on campus, which provides hands-on experience for students to operate, maintain and manage industrial equipment.
