Lights Out at BCIT
Building a culture of "Last out, Lights out" helps BCIT reduced wasted light on campus. Rewiring the lighting system so that one bank of lights is left on at all times makes it possible to turn off the lights at night and still maintain safe lighting levels for entering and exiting the building.
The project featured in this photo saves BCIT the equivalent of 240,000 kWh per year, the same amount of energy that would be produced by 1,200 solar panels installed on BCIT campus at a cost of $720,000. Actual cost of implementing this project at BCIT: $5,000.
