Dust Extraction system in Carpentry and Joinery

Replacing an old six-fan system with a two-fan variable frequency drive system means that air is sucked out of the building only when and where dust is created, and is proportional to the amount of dust that is being generated.

The project featured in this photo helps save BCIT the equivalent of 120,000 ekWh per year, the same amount of energy that would be produced by 600 solar panels installed on BCIT campus at a cost of $390,000. Actual incremental cost of implementing this project at BCIT: $71,000.
