For International Students Full-time 0320nobcit

Overview

Note: BCIT will not be accepting applications to the Study Abroad program for September 2017. We anticipate that this program will restart September 2018.

Study Abroad is open to international applicants who are currently studying at a post-secondary institution outside of Canada and want to attend one term of study at BCIT.

What is Study Abroad?

Many international students choose to study in another country for one term (semester) and return to their home institution to complete their academic program. BCIT is excited to offer international students the opportunity to study up to four courses at BCIT. You can choose from a variety of courses that may not be available at your home institution.

Why Study Abroad?

Studying outside your country allows you to immerse yourself in a foreign culture, to enhance your foreign language proficiency and to broaden your academic horizons.

Can I receive credits at my home institution for courses taken at BCIT?

You should organize a learning agreement with assistance from your institutional representative to find out which credits you earn from BCIT courses will be transferrable to your home institution. One BCIT credit is approximately worth two European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits.

Do I need a study permit?

To study in Canada for less than 6 months you are not required to have a study permit. Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to determine if you require a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

Where will I live?

Housing is available on-campus or off-campus. On-campus housing is limited. Visit Student Housing for more information.

Do I need medical insurance?

Yes, medical insurance is mandatory while studying at BCIT.
