Advanced Entertainment Media Performance

This group of four courses builds on basic skills developed in the previous level to enhance your ability to tell an entertainment-based story more effectively and with greater impact.

Through these more advanced courses, you’ll develop your inner storyteller and learn how to tell your story visually, including shooting and editing video. To push the professionalism of your performance further, you’ll discover high-level vocal and personal performance skills, and you’ll learn how to take those skills into the workforce and onto the set. You’ll also develop personal branding skills and learn how to get your creative and personal message out more successfully through social media.

What grads can do

This program is designed specifically to give you more advanced professional development to build on your existing career in entertainment media or to enhance your skills with a personal project. Additionally, the course credits you earn can be transferred toward further personal and professional training in the other BCIT programs.

About Part-time Studies

Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that's right for you.

Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there's space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).

To be successful in BCIT's fast paced applied learning environment, it is strongly recommended that students have English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success. For information on English equivalencies, testing and upgrading options, visit:
Formal application to the Statement of Completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the Program Contact with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a Statement of Completion.

Program Details

In the Advanced Entertainment Media Performance Statement of Completion program, you’ll build upon the basic skills for a variety of media for more in-depth knowledge of story development and performance. By developing your understanding through the hands-on, practical learning BCIT is known for, you’ll be earning lifelong skills you can use immediately and apply to your personal projects, as well as your professional endeavors.

In the Advanced Entertainment Media Performance program, you’ll learn to:
  • Clearly deliver a focused message
  • Convert written word into a live presentation
  • Conduct a media interview with confidence
  • Prepare scripts for announcing
  • Perform on-camera using a teleprompter
