Trades Entry Assessment Part-time Studies Course

BCIT is planning for a substantial return to on-campus activity for the fall 2021 term as informed by BC Public Health Officer guidelines. Refer to each course listing for details.

Course Details

​The English assessment is used to determine your ability to read and understand written material. The assessment contains questions about readings that are similar in style to readings in trades training textbooks, manuals, and handouts. Diagrams, charts, tables, and short and long reading passages are presented. No prior knowledge of the content is assumed or required.

  1. For detailed information about the Trades Entry Assessments, including Sample Assessments, please visit https://www.bcit.ca/trades-access/trades-entry-assessment/ 2. You must register and pay for the assessment at least three business days prior to writing it. If you are writing the assessment at BCIT’s Trades Learning Centre, please book an appointment here https://calendly.com/trades_assessment/trades-entry-assessment-session. You will need to present valid Government-issued photo identification and proof of payment to the proctor – you will not be permitted to write the assessment without these documents. If you are writing the assessment at a different physical location (i.e. embassy or consulate), submit your request to https://secure.bcit.ca/sis/tlcid/. If you are writing the assessment online, please follow the instructions found on BCIT’s Learning Hub for the assessment. You will only be able to access the assessment and the instructions after you have registered and paid for it. 3. **Test fee is non-refundable.** The assessment must be written in the same term you register and pay for it. Transfers to different terms will not be permitted – no exceptions. 4. If you have any questions, please contact trades_assessment@bcit.ca.
