This course introduces the student to the installation, testing and maintenance of Fibre Optic communications systems. The theory portion of the course covers the basic concepts of light theory, optical glass, connector and splicing requirements, cable construction, handling and installation procedures. Practical aspects of test equipment theory are covered as well. The practical portion of the course covers the techniques used in assembling fibre optic connectors, splicing optical fibres and testing a fibre optic link.
