ORGB 3505 - Italian Business Culture and Language

Course Details

This business language and culture course is designed for students who have very little or no Italian language skills. Throughout this course students will develop the four basic language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as gaining a basic knowledge of Italian culture, specifically related to business. The course will include communicative classroom activities and take home exercises to enable students to develop a good command of Italian pronunciation and basic grammar. At the end of the course, students will be able to conduct simple daily conversations and to read and write short sentences. This course addresses the practical needs of dealing with real-life situations in Italian business and everyday contexts. Each class is based on a couple of themes that contain the most commonly used expressions.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • Effectively use basic Italian business language vocabulary.
  • Understand Italian business culture and importance of considering cultural differences in international business.
  • Analyze cross-cultural problems, specific to Italian business culture and entrepreneurship.
