This course provides work experience for a student who has successfully completed all other requirements of the BCIT Medical Office Assistant program. It includes six hours of classroom time, an eighty hour work placement, and a final presentation. The practicum must be pre-approved by the instructor for work experience in a physician’s office, clinic, hospital department, or related health-care facility. The work placement allows for communication with patients, physicians, and other members of the heath care team, thus providing a foundation for specific job skills and an opportunity to apply MOA skills and concepts in the workplace.
