Nursing Specialty Occupational Health Part-time Studies Course

Course Details

This course assists learners to further broaden their knowledge of work environments and the work-health relationship. Students use a population health promotion model for the risk assessment of health challenges arising from psychosocial, safety, and ergonomic issues in the workplace. This course forms a bridge to future learning in assessing worker health. The processes of systematic inquiry and critical thinking are used to analyze jobs for environmental, psychosocial, safety, and biomechanical demands on employees.

NSOH 7100 and NSOH 7200

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Examine a health and safety issue in own workplace using self-reflection and a Population Health Promotion model.
  • Initiate an independent learning experience by integrating and enacting knowledge about the nature of partnerships and a population health promotion perspective.
  • Demonstrate growth in communication skills through course assignments.
