Forensic Investigation Part-time Studies Course

BCIT is planning for a substantial return to on-campus activity for the fall 2021 term as informed by BC Public Health Officer guidelines. Refer to each course listing for details.

Course Details

The student will conclude the project proposed and conducted in FSCT8611 and FSCT8621 respectively. The student is required to prepare a formal research paper (akin to a scientific publication), submit a research poster and present the final research report to fellow students, faculty and industry guests at the yearly the Research Day. The poster and the presentation are expected to clearly highlight the research questions posed, the model of measurement utilized, data analysis and key research findings.

  2. Due to the COVID outbreak, we are now offering this course ONLINE for the Spring/Summer term. Live classes: Apr 8, 22, May 13 and 27. For this term, this section is set up for students all Forensic Investigation programs who have successfully completed FSCT 8621. Instructor will update you at the start of the course regarding BTech Graduates’ Research Day. Please also note that it is important to finish the course on time as any extension will need to be re-approved with re-registration fee paid in term 202220.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:

  • Plan, organize and write a comprehensive final report on the research project undertaken.
  • Defend his/her research findings and conclusions in an articulate and rational manner when presented to an audience of fellow students, faculty and industry experts.
  • Critically review the research of others.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired in the program to complete the research project in the student’s speciality area.
