This capstone course for the degree is a project integrating food technology with operations management to solve a real industry problem. Learners are joined with actual companies to complete the project. With direction from the industry sponsor and supervision from a faculty advisor, the learners conduct a literature review, develop a detailed methodology, write progress reports, and communicate results in a final oral presentation and written technical report.
Completion of all Level 5 through Level 7 courses.

Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
Search for information in paper-based journals, on-line or in other published formats.
Evaluate research methods applicable to the specific project as a tool to developing critical thinking skills applicable to future projects.
Develop a detailed methodology to solve a problem using the most appropriate methods identified or through development of a new methodology.
Conduct research using a detailed methodology and recognizing when a need may arise to deviate from or modify the methodology.
Apply techniques and knowledge learned from other courses that support the specific project assigned.
Analyze and evaluate results of the experiment(s) using appropriate statistical methods.
Recommend solutions and / or next steps resulting from a project.
Communicate literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusions and recommendations in a written report and oral presentation.
