Measuring and reporting on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance is at the heart of sustainable business and necessary in modern, global business. This course introduces students to accounting and finance concepts and emphasizes the differences between a traditional business and sustainable business practice. The course covers how an organization measures and reports on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and how sustainability can be incorporated into financial practices such as investing, banking and financing. Students explore different reporting methods and their impact on how organizations embed sustainable business practices into their day-to-day operations to reduce environmental and social impacts while, in many cases, increasing assurance, profits, returns, and competitive advantage.
