The purpose of this two-day workshop is to develop communications competencies associated with leadership effectiveness. Through a combination of group interactions, role playing, lectures and experiential activities, participants will have an opportunity to enhance an array of skills and build understanding of eliminating barriers to effective communication, giving and receiving feedback, communicating authentically, listening skills, the use of powerful questions and coaching practice, and communicating as a leader in group situations.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
Describe the communications process and barriers to effective communication.
Develop enhanced skills in both giving and receiving feedback.
Develop enhanced skills in handling difficult conversations.
Understand the importance of authentic communications.
Describe the importance of and demonstrates the ability to listen effectively.
Develop skills in the art of powerful questioning and practice a coaching session.
Describe a model of influence and persuasion, including influencing without authority.
Develop understanding of differences in communication preferences.
Increase awareness recent research on leadership communications, including the use of metaphor, connection, and energy.
