Course Details

​In this course, students learn to install, configure, manage, and support an Active Directory (AD) network infrastructure using the Microsoft server 2016 platform. Course topics include upgrading and migrating Windows Servers, Domain Controllers, Group Policy objects, Certificate Services, Federation Services, Web Application Proxy, and Active Directory Rights Management Services. Practical lab exercises support the theory presented in class.

No class on Saturday October 12th (Thanksgiving Weekend) or on Saturday November 9th(in lieu of Remembrance Day). CITX 2200 is part of the Network Administrator Technician certificate but it can also be taken as a stand-alone course. Note: BCIT reserves the right to cancel courses. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Install and configure Microsoft Active Directory enabled servers (domain controllers)
  • Describe the functions an Active Directory environment provides
  • Manage Active Directory users and computers
  • Optimize Active Directory for an enterprise environment
  • Implement authentication services with an Active Directory environment
  • Create and manage Active Directory groups and organizational units (OUs)
  • Create and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Configure Group Policy processing, settings, and preferences
  • Install and configure Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS)
  • Install and configure Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
  • Implement Web Application Proxy (WAP)
  • Install and configure Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS)
