In this course, students learn to install, configure, manage, and support an Active Directory (AD) network infrastructure using the Microsoft server 2016 platform. Course topics include upgrading and migrating Windows Servers, Domain Controllers, Group Policy objects, Certificate Services, Federation Services, Web Application Proxy, and Active Directory Rights Management Services. Practical lab exercises support the theory presented in class.
Due to the condensed format of this course, late registration is not permitted. It is strongly recommended that students attend every class. This course now requires departmental approval to register. For approval, please e-mail Chi_Wong@bcit.ca. No class on the following Saturdays: April 20th, May 18th, and June 29th (Holiday Weekends). Note (1): BCIT reserves the right to cancel courses. In the event of a part-time studies course cancellation, you will be notified at least two business days prior to the course start. Please ensure that your contact information is current. Note (2): This course is part of the new program matrix for the Network Administrator Technician certificate. Students should have experience with configuration of Microsoft client platforms prior to attending CITX 2200.

Install and configure Microsoft Active Directory enabled servers (domain controllers)
Describe the functions an Active Directory environment provides
Manage Active Directory users and computers
Optimize Active Directory for an enterprise environment
Implement authentication services with an Active Directory environment
Create and manage Active Directory groups and organizational units (OUs)
Create and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
Configure Group Policy processing, settings, and preferences
Install and configure Active Directory Certificate Services (AD CS)
Install and configure Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS)
Implement Web Application Proxy (WAP)
Install and configure Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS)
