Introduces participants to new developments in lighting technology and principles of energy efficient lighting. Following an initial review of basic lighting principles current lighting technologies are examined from a technical standpoint. Includes LED, T5 fluorescent, compact fluorescent, High Intensity Discharge (HID) and specialty lamps, electronic ballasts, new developments in luminaire design and lighting control systems. Illumination Engineering Society (IES) introductory lighting course, ED100, or comparable course is recommended as a prerequisite but not mandatory.
