Computers and information technology are the foundation of business today. This course provides an understanding of computer terminology, operating systems, and the most popular office software used in business. Students will become proficient on MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point with the latest version of Microsoft Office.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Open, save, create, move, copy, delete, and rename files in a Windows environment
  • Create, print and save documents
  • Insert, delete, move, copy, find, replace, and spell check text
  • Format characters, text, paragraphs, and pages
  • Insert graphics, such as shapes and text boxes, into Word documents
  • Describe default settings for graphics in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Apply the order of mathematical operations in Excel
  • Manage worksheets by inserting, hiding, deleting, and adjusting rows and columns
  • Apply the sum, average, count, max, min, and round functions using Excel
  • Create and modify charts in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Define target audiences for your PowerPoint presentation and select designs, themes, and content appropriate to those audiences
  • Create, edit, arrange, and print a presentation
  • Create and import graphics into PowerPoint
  • Create and edit SmartArt and WordArt in PowerPoint
  • Insert, edit, format, and manipulate text boxes, shapes and objects in MS Office applications
  • Apply transitions, animation, and sounds to a PowerPoint presentation
