Course Details
Computers and information technology are the foundation of business today and an essential tool in the current labour market. This course provides a deep understanding of computer terminology, operating systems, and the most popular software applications used in business. The course discusses up to date technology issues and challenges that affect and impact the business environment. At the end of the course students will become proficient on Microsoft Office applications; specifically, in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. Students work individually on projects in lab settings and complete a number of individual projects and quizzes /exams.

This BSYS on-line course is designed for students who have a basic understanding of how to use a personal computer, who are comfortable to learn in a virtual/on-line environment, and have experience using various software applications. These courses are not intended for beginners, and not designed for smartphones. Students must submit an e-mail address when registering for a course. *PRE-REQUISITES AND ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE COURSES INCLUDE: Access to a personal computer, the knowledge to use a personal computer, access to a reliable internet connection, knowledge of computer file management, and the ability to download and install software applications. *This course requires a commitment of 7 to 10 hours per week. The course is paced with weekly assignment deadlines and scheduled dates for the midterm and final exams. Frequent contributions to asynchronous (not real time) online discussions are required to derive full benefit from the course and attain a passing grade. *Required textbooks (e-book or hard copy), are specified by the instructor on the course outline.
