Eager to start your first entertainment media gig, but unclear about the next steps? Understanding relationships within the entertainment business is essential to beginning your career. This course is designed to review the stages of production, the agent’s role, an overview of set terminology, code of conduct, and discussion of the labour organizations within the business. You will learn how to rev up your career and arrive confidently on set, ready to work!
This course was retired after the Fall 2017 term and is no longer offered through BCIT Part-time Studies.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
Describe the interpersonal relationships within the primary agencies in the film and media industry
Define the roles of talent and management agencies
Acquire and secure representation
Identify key issues within the relationship between talent, producers, talent agents, and casting directors
Define audition and set terminology
Demonstrate proper etiquette and code of conduct on set
Describe the casting process and the role of the agency
Recognize basic legal contract issues between talent and representation
