Course Details

This course presents information required to develop a set of construction drawings for a single family wood-frame structure. It introduces students to materials, methods and details specific to residential construction. The course is delivered through in-depth review of drawing sets for a single family wood-frame house and project work on floor plans, elevations, roof plans, foundations, schedules, and details.

ASCT 1010 and ASCT 1015

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Properly use symbols and abbreviations commonly used in wood-frame construction documents.
  • Properly utilize dimensions, layers, line types and hatching patterns.
  • Prepare detailed working drawings for residential structure using the graphic language, conventions, and standards of the construction industry.
