Service Updates

Recreation Services will be reopening the Burnaby Campus Recreation Facility (SE16) on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022.

In line with the Provincial Health Officer’s order, increased safety protocols and capacity limits will be in place, including:

  • Capacity based on 7 square metres of floor space per person for both individual and group fitness and exercise classes
  • All group fitness and exercise classes have a capacity limit
  • Masks worn at all times, except when actively exercising. We strongly encourage people wear a mask even when exercising
  • Pre-bookings for Fitness Centre use
  • Scanning proof of vaccination QR codes for entry

When coming into the Recreation Centre for any purpose you will need to show your proof of vaccination, a valid government photo ID, as well as your BCIT student/employee ID card. Below you will find some examples of a valid government photo ID:

  • BC driver’s licence or BC Services Card
  • Passport
  • Photo ID issued by another province or territory

Our return to operations may look a little different than you are used to. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work our way back to normal operations. Please see below for details on what our return to campus looks like!
