About Part-time Studies

Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that’s right for you.

Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there’s space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).

To apply to a Part-time Studies program and earn your credential, you simply need to complete a Part-time Program Declaration Request. Applications are processed throughout the year.

Applicants to the BCIT School of Business are required to have completed two years of full-time study in high school or post-secondary program in English in an English speaking country. If you do not have English 12 and have not studied in an English-speaking country, you will need to demonstrate your skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Program Details

By offering a focused, eight-course program to complete your Associate Certificate in Web Technologies, BCIT has designed a fast, strong foundation for everyday web design and maintenance.

Perfect as professional development for people already working in marketing, graphic design, management, or as small business owners, this fully online associate certificate gives you flexibility of schedule and location so you can improve your job skills quickly and easily.

Additionally, this program ladders easily into BCIT’s more technical Web Technologies Certificate program for a more in-depth study to fully prepare them for a larger career shift.

Graduating & Jobs

Students who earn their Associate Certificate in Web Technologies are often looking for continuing education for an already-existing job or to move to a new role in their company. This program is specifically developed for small business and professional development, rather than for new career advancement.

One of the most popular options for students in this program is to assume the role of web designer/author for the companies where they are currently employed. Many firms hire external design houses to author and maintain their web pages and are often not satisfied with the results. They are therefore anxious to bring this work back into the firm and may sponsor their employees to develop sufficient expertise to become in-house designers.

If you’re currently employed, be sure to ask your employer if they would sponsor you or pay a portion of your tuition for your professional development.

Students who earn their associate certificate often go on for further training in the more technical Certificate in Web Technologies program to prepare them for even more in-depth web design work and an additional variety of career opportunities.

Faculty, Advisors & Staff

BCIT recruits qualified faculty who have an ability to connect and communicate effectively with students.

Our instructors enjoy working with people, have industry experience, successful teaching experience at the post secondary level, and may have a master’s degree or specialized competency in the area of their expertise. Some have actually written the texts and case books you will be using in your studies.
