What grads can do

Demand for app design and digital publishers is on the rise with many new jobs available each month. With the skills you’ll earn through this focused, specialized training program, you’ll be fully prepared to enhance your current job position or start a new career in a variety of entry-level positions like studio designer, UI/UX designer, and more.

In addition to being prepared to begin your new career immediately, you’ll have the option of also continuing your studies part- or full-time to further enhance your knowledge, job prospects, and earning potential with the BCIT Digital Design and Development diploma or a Advanced Web Technologies program.

Entrance Requirements

This program is designed for mature students who have completed other post-secondary education and who have work experience. Applicants must have prior Mac and web experience, plus the ability to hand code in HTML5 and CSS3. Graduates will be well prepared to move into new mobile technologies.

Costs & Supplies

Courses

In the courses for this program, you’ll cover the essential skills needed in your career in digital design or publishing. You’ll train with working industry professionals on the most current technology and practices in topics like business analysis and systems design, user interface for mobile devices, mobile analytics and app store optimization, video and motion graphics, and other creative design tools.

You’ll also complete your own portfolio of apps to use as proof of your expertise to your future employers.

Program Details

The BCIT Mobile App Tools associate certificate is a joint credential from the School of Business, Digital Arts and the School of Computing and Academic Studies, Computing Part-time Studies.

In this program, you’ll learn to design, create, and publish significant cross-platform mobile apps from conception to sale in an app store. As part of the training, you’ll learn from working industry designers in the most relevant topics like mobile coding, high-end video with responsive screen and HTML5, CSS3, Java, and more.

Since this program is designed to give you the essential job skills you need to begin your career faster, you’ll get hands-on practice with app development and publishing and then graduate with a portfolio of your own apps to showcase to future employers.

Graduating & Jobs

Upon graduation, you will have earned advanced skills in a variety of the most essential practices and software platforms for digital design and publishing. By developing your skills through this program with industry professionals and creating your own portfolio of apps to show your future employers as proof of your abilities, you’ll be prepared to begin or advance your career in the growing field of digital design.

While you may choose to begin your career immediately, you’ll also have the option of continuing your education at BCIT.
