The Applied Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) statement of completion is a series of hands-on related courses from BCIT Computing.
COMP 1011 – UX/UI Fundamentals begins with a focus on user experience (UX) and introduces user interface (UI) design.
COMP 1910 – Introduction to 3D Simulations focuses on how to create 3D models with multiple tools to create a simple Unity AR/VR/MR demo.
COMP 2012 – Applied UX/UI for VR/AR transforms existing 2D/3D content and evolves interface concepts based on UCD for MR environments.
COMP 3919 – Applied VR/AR Project applies story-boarding, rapid prototyping and user testing for a VR/AR/MR Project.
These four courses form the Applied VR/AR Statement of Completion.
Students must have the specific prerequisites in order to register for COMP 1910, COMP 2012 and COMP 3919.
COMP 1011 is offered every term; COMP 1910, COMP 2012 and COMP 3919 are under review and are not currently available.

VR/AR courses are aimed at mature students with other post-secondary education, and work experience.
These courses will be of interest to established programmers who are already working as software and mobile app developers.
Proficiency in English at a Grade 12 level is required for student success.
If you at not at or above that level there are English upgrading course options at BCIT.
Students must also complete COMP 1002 – Applied Computer Concepts or have equivalent knowledge of managing files and installing software on a Windows 10 PC prior to beginning these courses.
Each course may have a prerequisite, please view each course for specific prerequisites.
Formal application to the statement of completion is not required. Upon successful completion of the courses, email the cstpts@bcit.ca with your full name, student number, and mailing address to be issued a statement of completion.
Recommended for success
To be successful in this program, students are recommended to have the following:
- English 12 or equivalent
- Math 12 or equivalent
- Post-secondary education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in self-directed teams
Note: This program is aimed at mature students with other post-secondary education. It is not designed for students who have just completed high school without other education or work experience.

The VR/AR Statement of Completion is comprised of 4 courses.
Registration is course by course, each course costs less than $600.
Each student must provide their own 16 GB USB memory stick to save their work.
The total cost for tuition is currently $ 2,342 plus a memory stick.

VR/AR courses are aimed at mature students with other post-secondary education, and work experience.
These courses will be of interest to established programmers who are already working as a software and mobile app developers.
VR/AR courses are not designed for those students just out of high school with no other education or work experience.
Those students should consider completing a BCIT Diploma or Degree in order to be well-positioned in the job market.
All students must be able to communicate in English at a minimum of a BC Grade 12 level.
Since one of the learning outcomes is teamwork all students are required to collaborate and work together in groups.
Each course has specific prerequisites and all assume proficiency with a Windows 10 PC; file management, installing and configuring applications.
Please Note: You must complete COMP 1011 and COMP 1910 before registering for COMP 2012.
COMP 1011, COMP 1910 and COMP 2012 must all be completed before registering in COMP 3919.
Grading
Courses in this program require a 60 percent passing grade.
