About Part-time Studies
Take a single course, or work towards a credential — all at a pace that’s right for you.
Part-time courses are offered in a variety of scheduling formats, including at night or on weekends, flexible day time delivery, or you can opt for distance or online learning. If you meet the prerequisites and there’s space available, you can register for a course immediately. Courses are offered in each of three terms: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Spring/Summer (April).
To apply to a Part-time Studies program and earn your credential, you simply need to complete a Part-time Program Declaration Request. Applications are processed throughout the year.
To be successful in BCIT’s fast paced applied learning environment, it is strongly recommended that students have English proficiency in all four language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Two years of education in English in an English-speaking country and English 12 are strongly recommended for success. For information on English equivalencies, testing and upgrading options, visit:
Bring your own device
Most courses and programs in the School of Business + Media are BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Please ensure you bring a laptop to every class. Plug-in outlets will be provided at most stations in classrooms, but not in all classrooms, so please ensure you have at least 2 hours of battery life available at the beginning of each class. Check the following recommended computer requirements prior to the start of class. If a program or course does not require you to provide your own device, that information will be provided by your instructor or indicated in the course outline.
For online classes, it is important you have a stable and consistent internet connection to access course content.
Please note: part-time programs and courses are open enrolment and although we make every effort to accommodate demand, course registration cannot be guaranteed in every semester. High demand courses fill quickly and may result in students unable to register for a course that semester. Courses may also be cancelled due to low enrolment.
Your career, like the business world, never stops growing. And by continuing your studies in this Advanced Human Resource Management Certificate, you’ll expand your HR techniques, and knowledge of business and organizational operations across all industries.
The Human Resource Management Certificate is a prerequisite for this program. If you have taken one or more of these courses as part of your Management Certificate in HR, your program must be modified prior to acceptance into the Advanced Human Resources Certificate program. For more information, contact Program Advising at 604-434-1610. The Certificate will be granted upon completion of an approved program of study consisting of a minimum of 43.5 additional credits over and above the Management certificate in Human Resources. These 43.5 credits may not duplicate any previously credited courses.
Many graduates of this program are already working in the human resources field and are using this certificate to further their career. As a part-time student, you’ll have the opportunity to still work while you enhance your abilities, build an even stronger resume, and practice your useable training in your day-to-day responsibilities.

Additionally, you might choose to broaden your career skills and education by transferring your course credits toward other part-time studies programs within the Business Administration Department such as the Diploma in Business Administration – Human Resources Option, which you could earn in only about a year.
