BCIT course outlines are governed by Policy 5403 and the creation of course outlines is subject to the procedure described in 5403-PR1.

Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain methods used to efficiently research a marketplace for the purpose of identifying properties with development potential.
  • Evaluate locations to establish relevance for development opportunities, both residential and commercial.
  • Complete a basic feasibility study for a real estate market challenge in each of the residential and commercial marketplaces.
  • Competently demonstrate the methodology applied to arrive at a set of relevant, reliable conclusions and recommendations in assessing the development potential for a real estate asset.
  • Apply real estate business analysis competencies in establishing a viable proposal for a specific development potential site.
  • Demonstrate awareness of relevant real estate rules, principles and law in development site analyses, including the potential impact of those elements on the proposed development.
