The course outline is a statement of educational intent and direction, providing BCIT students with clear, concise, accurate and readily available information related to course content and administration. BCIT course outlines are governed by Policy 5403 and the creation of course outlines is subject to the procedure described in 5403-PR1.

Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

At the end of this course the student will be able to:

  • Make effective management decisions through analyzing a company’s dynamic internal and external environment and applying best practices in organizational leadership.
  • Effectively lead and manage individuals who are lower in the company and influence individuals who are equal or higher in the company to achieve organizational goals.
  • Motivate individuals through applied motivational techniques, such as job re-design, engagement, empowerment, and performance evaluation.
  • Evaluate a company's talent to create opportunities for employee development that is aligned with organizational strategic goals.
  • Facilitate effective team work.
  • Critically evaluate a company's leadership through applying leadership theories.
  • Effectively manage workplace conflict and show emotional intelligence.
  • Evaluate a company's internal communication channels and implement improvement.
  • Analyze management problems in organizations and execute working solutions.
  • Critically evaluate the need for organizational change and apply the most effective organizational change model.
