Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the influence of purchasing on other major functional activities, including product design, information system design, e-commerce, manufacturing planning and control, inventory management and other functional areas.
  • Evaluate warehouse and distribution decisions, including third party outsourcing as an option to traditional systems.
  • Examine third party logistics, reverse logistics, outsourcing of logistical services and evaluate proper conditions of their applications.
  • Identify the issues of design and implementation of a logistics information system.
  • Understand and be aware of the issues of compliance with environmental law in all business sectors.
  • Understand and be aware of the necessity to plan, budget and control through environmental management.
  • Identify controllable and uncontrollable factors that impact international logistics.
  • Identify organizational, financial and managerial issues that impact international logistics.
