If any of these steps don’t result in what you are looking for, it indicates that no outline is currently available. If you are looking for an outline from a current term please check back closer to the start of the course or consult another outline from a previous term.  Please keep in mind that the content from previous outlines may be different than current offerings of the course. The course outline is a statement of educational intent and direction, providing BCIT students with clear, concise, accurate and readily available information related to course content and administration. BCIT course outlines are governed by Policy 5403 and the creation of course outlines is subject to the procedure described in 5403-PR1.

Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Evaluate the global dimensions of strategy to ensure appropriate leadership and control of organizations.
  • Critically analyze the complexity of global business environments, including external and internal forces, and their impacts on the strategic decision-making process.
  • Critically evaluate current strategic management tools, techniques and concepts to determine their effectiveness in a global construct.
  • Develop alternative responses related to external business forces by assessing current developments within a variety of industry environments.
  • Analyze and evaluate frameworks to assess and lead strategic change.
  • Analyze organizations to determine how to effectively integrate the desired strategic changes within a comprehensive and responsive leadership system.
  • Create strategies and design approaches to ensure successful implementation of strategic change.
  • Create effective strategic plans for business problems that include people and performance measurement metrics.
  • Develop teamwork and critical thinking skills for formulating solutions to strategic problems.
