The course outline is a statement of educational intent and direction, providing BCIT students with clear, concise, accurate and readily available information related to course content and administration. BCIT course outlines are governed by Policy 5403 and the creation of course outlines is subject to the procedure described in 5403-PR1.

Course Learning Outcomes/Competencies

At the end of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Organize, research and perform a radio program with infrequent operational errors.
  • Communicate effectively with different demographic groups.
  • Apply advanced performance skills using voice techniques effective across multiple platforms.
  • Summarize the steps involved in analyzing a commercial script for voice-over.
  • Summarize the steps involved in analyzing a commercial script for voice-over.
  • Demonstrate basic character-voicing techniques.
  • Analyze the main elements of a successful on-camera performance.
  • Perform a newscast on video using a teleprompter.
  • Perform a brief recitation (ad lib) on camera.
  • Write short 'ad-libs' (aka. 'bits') which target a specific demographic.
  • Apply the basic elements required to present a ‘personality’ in a multimedia environment.
