The course outline is a statement of educational intent and direction, providing BCIT students with clear, concise, accurate and readily available information related to course content and administration. BCIT course outlines are governed by Policy 5403 and the creation of course outlines is subject to the procedure described in 5403-PR1.

The student will be able to:

  • Describe the relationship of law and morality and its effect on our legal system.
  • Explain the role and operation of the Canadian Judicial System.
  • Describe the regulatory environment of business in Canada.
  • Describe the conditions that constitute a breach of contract and remedies available to victims.
  • Describe the laws that govern employment and agency.
  • Describe the obligations placed on employees and agents relating to confidential information.
  • Describe the obligations and responsibilities under the law for partnerships, proprietorships and corporations.
  • Describe the purpose of the inter carrier agreement on passenger liability.
  • Describe risk management in reference to airports.
  • Describe the insurance business.
  • Describe the insurance business as related to North American Aviation.
  • Describe the Canadian Acts and Regulations that govern aviation in Canada.
