To learn more\, please contact us by reaching out to Nicole Gandy.  \nSustainable Business Leadership Consulting Project Descriptions\n \nProject Title: Advancing Supplier Diversity in PHSA Procurement and Supply Chain\n\nClient: Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA)\n\nPHSA has engaged a BCIT Sustainable Business Leadership student team to assess opportunities to strengthen the inclusion of SMEs\, Indigenous-owned businesses\, and social-value suppliers within its procurement system. Through research\, interviews\, and process analysis\, the team is working to identify barriers and opportunities to improve supplier accessibility and engagement. The project will deliver actionable insights to enhance procurement processes\, strengthen supplier support\, and advance PHSA’s inclusive procurement objectives.\n\nProject Title: GHG Emissions Inventory and Actionable Reduction Plan\n\nClient: Star West Petroleum (SWP)\n\nSWP partnered with BCIT’s Sustainable Business Leadership students to develop a comprehensive Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions baseline\, along with a set of feasible and actionable emissions reduction strategies. By engaging with stakeholders and industry experts\, the student team developed a structured emissions inventory model aligned with recognized standards\, and provided recommendations tailored to SWP’s operational realities. The final deliverables included a validated emissions baseline\, prioritized reduction opportunities\, and a practical roadmap to support implementation. This project provided SWP with a strong foundation to guide its sustainability strategy and support continuous improvement in environmental performance.\n\nProject Title: Unlocking Dormant Funds for Community Impact\n\nClient: Scale Collaborative Institute & Social Economy through Social Inclusions\n\nScale Institute and SETSI have partnered with BCIT’s Sustainable Business Leadership students to develop a compelling\, evidence-based business case to redirect dormant funds into community-focused capital. The student team will conduct research to map the current policy and regulatory landscape\, explore effective mechanisms used in other jurisdictions\, and identify opportunities to channel surplus assets toward equity-deserving groups and organizations across Canada. The findings will support Scale Institute and SETSI with actionable insights and advocacy tools to advance a national framework for unlocking dormant assets\, ultimately helping to resource underserved communities and strengthen Canada’s social economy.\n\nSustainable Business Leadership Consulting Project #4\n\nClient: Canadian Plastics Pact & Fjordlife Beauty\nThe Sustainable Futures student team is creating a streamlined set of reuse metrics\, a simple reporting tool\, and a systems map to help brands understand how refill models function across the value chain. Together\, these tools will enable brands to assess feasibility\, reduce risk\, and design more credible circular solutions from the outset. By equipping early-stage companies with accessible\, decision-ready tools\, this project aims to accelerate the adoption of reuse systems and support the transition toward a circular beauty economy where packaging is designed to be kept\, not discarded.\n\nTerritory acknowledgment \nThis event is taking place on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw)\, Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ) and Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm) Nations\, who have resided on and stewarded the life and waters of these lands since time immemorial. \nInformation Collection Notice \nYour personal information will be used to track event registration and send you event related communications. \nThis information will also be shared with the BCIT Alumni office to track engagement.
