Turning off the lights is everyone’s responsibility. It should be pretty simple: just turn off the lights whenever you leave your office, lab, classroom or shop.
But we also want you to step beyond your own personal domain. Turn out the lights when you leave the bathroom. And the lunchroom. And when you’re last to leave the building.
Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy. You may be unsure of whether it’s safe to turn the lights off. Or whether you’re even allowed to. In some areas, there may not be a switch you can control. For all these barriers, however, there’s a solution. Check out our FAQ for the answers.
And remember, you’re not in this alone. Facilities; Safety, Security and Emergency Management; and BCIT’s custodial staff are all on board, and are helping us to reach our goals.
If you're faculty or staff, take the quiz (no longer available) and you’ll soon be on your way to becoming a Jedi-level Light Saver.
