About Wireless

Instructions for connecting to both networks via various operating systems:

• Windows 10/11

• iOS
• Android
• Gaming consoles

Wireless is accessible at all BCIT Campuses. If you or others are experiencing wireless connectivity issues in a specific area at one of our campuses, please contact the the ITS Service Desk.

You can connect to the wireless network using any device that supports the following standards and protocols:

• 802.11A/B/G/N/AC/AX compatible wireless LAN cards
  • We strongly recommend ensuring your device supports at least the AC or AX standards.
  • For more information on Wifi standards please refer to this article published by the IEEE.
• 802.1x required for the use of BCIT_Secure or Eduroam
  • WPA2-Enterprise required for 802.1x
    • Unlike the wireless network authentication protocol commonly found in residential environments (WPA2/WAP3) which uses a pre-shared key (aka a password), BCIT’s network authentication protocol requires a valid Username and Password to be provided to successfully login to the network.

  • EAP (PEAP) required for 802.1x

Most mainstream North American Laptops and Cellular devices support these standards and protocols. If your unsure if your device supports these protocols or are having difficulty connecting to BCIT’s Wifi, please ensure your device’s operating system and Wifi drivers are up to date and review the the manufacture and vendor support documentation.

Individual guest accounts are available for the BCIT wireless. To create a wireless account, a BCIT staff or faculty sponsor must create an account for you. If many people will require wireless access or if access is required for longer than one week, please ask your sponsor to request a guest account from the IT Service Catalogue.
