Full-time Program Application

To apply to a full-time program at BCIT, please carefully follow the steps below.

All BCIT programs have different entrance requirements.

Five Steps to Program Application

Step 1: Choose your full-time program

You need to know what specific program you want to study before you apply.

Step 2: Determine if you meet your program's entrance requirements.

  • To find a program's entrance requirements, visit the specific program's webpage, and select the "Program Entry" link from the menu on the right of the program page.
  • If you meet all of your program's entrance requirements, proceed to Step 3.
  • If you do not meet your program's English entrance requirements, BCIT offers courses and programs to help upgrade your English skills.
  • If you do not meet any other entrance requirements (Math, Chemistry, Physics etc.) you have 2 options:
    1. Upgrade your skills in the country you currently reside in.
    2. Upgrade your skills at BCIT.

Step 3: Collect all of your program's required documents.

  • You must demonstrate that you meet the entrance requirements of your chosen program at the time of your initial application. Only complete applications will be accepted.
  • Official transcripts and supporting documentation must be submitted in Portable Document Format (PDF) when you complete your online application. As you create PDFs of your official transcripts, remember to include the front and back of every page.
  • Certified English translations must be submitted with non-English transcripts.
  • All applications to a BCIT full-time program require a credit card payment of $154.00 CDN.
  • If your program requires your foreign education to be evaluated, submit your credential to the International Credential Evaluation Service. Then, include the completed credential evaluation with your online application.

How will I know BCIT has received my application?

  • Within 2 business days of submitting your completed application, we'll send a message to your personal e-mail and your mybcit e-mail address. It's important to watch for these emails, or regularly check your myCommunication account online at myBCIT.

How does BCIT Admissions communicate with me?

  • myBCIT is BCIT's primary method of communicating with you about your application. Within myBCIT, you can check your application status and use myCommunication to view all of your official correspondence from BCIT. Some correspondence is time sensitive so make sure you check myBCIT often, both during the application process and throughout your studies at BCIT.

How long does it take to process my application?

  • For most first-qualified first-accepted programs, you will receive a decision within 4 weeks of submission. For most competitive programs, you will receive a decision several weeks after the application deadline date.
  • To find out if your program is competitive, find your program and review the program entry details.

What happens if I'm accepted?

  • You will receive a letter of acceptance through myCommunication. To confirm the offer, you must pay the commitment fee within 2 weeks of the date of acceptance. Payment methods and deadline date are listed in your letter of acceptance.
  • Please note: If we do not receive your commitment fee by the deadline, you will lose the seat and your application will be withdrawn.
  • After you pay your commitment fee, an official letter of acceptance will be sent to your personal e-mail address. This letter of acceptance is required for study permit application.
  • You must bring proof of your status in Canada (e.g., original study permit) to the International Student Centre as soon as possible after acceptance.

What if my Study Permit has expired or will expire soon?
