Overview

Calling all faculty and staff! It's time to harness your power, and combat wasted heat at BCIT.

You've seen it—heat escaping from our classrooms, offices, shops, and labs. Sometimes it gets out during the day, when the heat is on—yet the windows are open. Or, it gets out at night, through windows where blinds have been left up.

BCIT spends about $4,000,000 on energy every year—half for natural gas, half for electricity. In 2010, we also had to buy $279,000 in carbon offsets. If we save energy, we spend less, and we pollute less.

Take action! Explore this website for tips on how to prevent wasted heat, reduce our natural gas and electricity use, and reduce emissions that cause climate change.
