Reina Van Lagen
Reina's Perinatal nursing career began in 1981 when she went overseas to obtain her midwidery certificate in England. Since then she has worked as an assistant head nurse in labour and birth at Royal Columbian Hospital, and as a staff nurse in the birthing suite at BC Women's Hospital. She worked for two years as a Critical Care nurse in a community hospital as well. Her most active involvement has been in specialty nursing education, particularly as Program Head for BCIT's Perinatal Nursing program since its inception in 1986.
Reina obtained both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Nursing at the University of British Columbia and the Breastfeeding Counsellor certificate at Douglas College.
