I have worked if both Federal and Municipal government capacities; performed Management roles in both the Health and Transportation industries; however the majority my career was invested in the Technical - Communications Industry. Managing Operations staff as we'll as assisting the Organization and its Management Teams to develop their capacity and willingness to Change. My last 9 yrs in industry were as an internal OD Consultant providing direction and or support to these internal Clients. Seven subsequent years focused on OD delivery as an external consultant.
My formal education began at UBC, Economics major, however I did not complete this initiative as I realigned my career aspirations by completing a 2 yr. Technical Management Diploma in '79 (now aligned to Operations Management). At this time, my informal education contributed to my learning, ensuring my knowledge gained during these prior formal education experiences were applicable in the 'real' world and was also effective. This experience solidified my bias that that my staff, regular people are an organizations most significant asset. Subsequent management and personal development ensured the continuation of learning which ultimately led me to reinitiate my formal education. I subsequently achieved my Masters of Human Resource Development degree from the University Associates Graduate School. A unique learning opportunity, a 2 year Internship Program with the prime focus being the knowledge and practice of Organizational Development (OD).
I am active in and support several volunteer organizations, principally focused with the Scouting movement and the Kidney Foundation. I also remain active on the ice both as a defence man and a goalie.
