Edmond Zahedi has joined the British Columbia Institute of Technology in August 2015. Prior to joining BCIT, Edmond was a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Malaysia and the chairman for the Healthcare Technology Innovation at the same university. Before joining the National University of Malaysia in 2012, Edmond was a faculty member (Associate Professor) at the School of Electrical Engineering, Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. He has also offered consultancy services for private companies in biomedical engineering.

Edmond is a certified in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) practitioner and a senior member of the IEEE.


Edmond holds a Diplôme d’Ingénieur (Control) and Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (Control - Electronics – Informatics) (1985) from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Toulouse, France. His PhD (Biomedical Engineering - 1989) was awarded by the MCHE-Iran after him completing his research work in Toulouse, France at the Centre de Technologie Biomédicale under the École Nationale Supérieure d'Electronique, d'Electrotechnique, d'Informatique, d'Hydraulique et des Télécommunications.


Edmond has research interest in medical instrumentation applied to non-invasive vascular characterization. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal papers and more than 100 papers in proceedings of biomedical engineering conferences. He is also the author of one book: Digital Data Communication (2002).
