Christopher Lowe

work experience

Chris began working in the Event Management field in 1985 when he joined Expo '86 as an Event Coordinator in On-Site Entertainment. Working there made him realize that he enjoyed the industry and with Jane Howard Baker started the highly successful Vancouver Comedy Festival in 1987.

1988 found him joining the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon where he coordinated their events, pledge programs, corporate campaign, merchandise program and special programs for the next five years. During that time he started Lowe & Associates. The company became The FunTeam Group which specializes in Event, Conference and Project Management and under L&A we are the Canadian distributor of Auction Tracker software and supply services to support that.

Chris was the Founding President of the Canadian Special Events Society which ran for 10 years and then was closed due to a changing landscape for association memberships.

He is an evaluator for National Certification as an "Event Coordinator (TCP-EVC)" and "Event Manager (TCM-EVM)" and has been an instructor at BCIT of the Event Planning course since 1996.

In 2012 he became the Regional Manager of BC & Yukon for JDRF, an international organization in the fight to cure type 1 diabetes.

Graduated from BCIT in 1982 with a Diploma of Technology in Operations Management. Have been certified by the Cdn Tourism Human Resources Council as an Events Coordinator since 2001 and as an Events Manager since 2005.
