Russell Oye was trained at Detroit Diesel and received his certificate as a diesel engine technician, he then took further training to acquire a Commercial Transport trades qualification and a Commercial Vehicle Inspectors certificate. A believer in life long learning he acquired his Masters Degree in Education from SFU and continues to take courses in business, teaching skills, and product training from different manufactures. He has worked in the transportation industry for 18 years working for companies that have large fleets. Russell was first introduced to teaching while at Detroit Diesel in the mid 1980’s, took business management courses at the BCIT downtown campus, and taught part time at BCIT Heavy Equipment Group in the late 1990’s.
Russell is currently at BCIT Marine Campus. He is teaching the Practical Skills Training for Marine Engineers portion of the four year diploma program.
