A Living Labs Lecture: Location NE22, Room 105
BCIT’s Tall Timber Student Housing building is nearing completion on the south side of the Burnaby campus.
The project will provide 469 new student beds while meeting ambitious goals around carbon and energy efficiency. It showcases an innovative hybrid mass-timber design that has provided a living lab for students to learn more about these novel approaches to construction.
In this Living Labs lecture Perkins&Will, the architects for the building, will provide an overview of how they developed this project to meet these goals.

Slavica Puzovic, Architect (Serbia), LEED AP BD+C, RELi AP
Slavica is an architect with over 16 years of experience. Her interest lies in the technical aspects of architecture and how specific structural and construction processes can influence design. She is currently the project manager for BCIT’s Tall Timber Student Housing building.
Jana Foit, Architect AIBC, LEED AP® BD+C
Jana is the Higher Education Practice Lead for the Vancouver studio of Perkins&Will. With over two decades of experience, she has been involved with some of the most innovative projects at major Universities. Jana is the Principal in Charge of the BCIT Tall Timber Student Housing Building and has been involved since the projects inception.
