Building with Mass Timber at BCIT (Free Webinar)
October 19 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm PDT
The BCIT School of Construction and the Environment Sustainability Speaker Series presents
Building with Mass Timber at BCIT
Speaker: Morgan McDonald, Ledcor Construction
Ledcor is the construction manager for BCIT’s Tall Timber Student Housing project, a new 12-storey student residence that will add more than 460 beds to the Burnaby campus. This is the first investment in new student housing at BCIT in 38 years. In addition to the innovative mass timber design, the project is also targeting Step 4 of the BC Energy Step Code. Ledcor has a long history of collaborating with owners, consultants, and trades to deliver high performance buildings that meet ever-higher sustainability standards. In this presentation, we’ll learn about this project from the contractor’s perspective, as well as related projects and recent market trends involving mass timber, low carbon, and other sustainability outcomes.
