Colin has a degree in Criminal Justice, a Masters in Nursing, with post graduate education in Forensic Nursing and additional education in crime scene analysis, death investigation and other forensic topics.

Colin has integrated his nursing experience in the acute medical setting with previous experience in law enforcement and investigations and as a Coroner and Manager of the Child Death Review Unit for the Province of British Columbia.  This combination allowed him to bring together expertise to both death investigations and to the area of “living forensics” investigations. Colin is a board certified Advanced Forensic Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the only board certified fellow of the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators in Canada. Colin’s most recent work as a Special Provincial Constable utilized forensic medical expertise in the investigation of workplace fatalities and serious injuries. This was the first ever application of this expertise by an Investigations Officer in the occupational setting.

Colin is a published author for the Journal of Forensic Nursing and the BC Medical Journal and has presented numerous times on topics related to Forensic medical expertise at the International Conferences on Forensic Nursing Science and Practice.
