Over the past fiscal year, Sipco has experienced double digit growth in sales and one of their key 2014 objectives is to increase the throughput of their two filling lines in order to either maintain or decrease their shipment delivery lead times to the customers.
A time study and an analysis on the current manufacturing processes will be completed in order to analyze current production capacity.
Afterwards, students will recommend improvements to increase throughput in their production lines to meet the company’s manufacturing objectives. New weekly fill rates based on these recommendations will be established.
In order to achieve this, the students will have to forecast demand, and recommend safety stock and re-ordering point levels for their raw materials and finished goods inventory. Based on the results of their report, the company will be able to utilize their Master Production Schedule in their recently implemented MRP Software, increasing their production output and customer satisfaction, while reducing management’s administration time spent on production planning.
