Project Details

Project Client: Hike Business Services Society
Project Description: Student Recruitment Strategy
Students: Karley Burtini, Caitlin Moores, Rebecca Whatley
Term: Spring 2014
BCIT Program: Business Management
This project focused on how Hike Business Services Society (Hike) can broaden and increase its network of students to include a wider range of disciplines within BCIT. Enabling them to contract consulting projects within a larger, more diverse base of industries.

The goal of this project was to report on the best way to recruit students from all schools within BCIT for consulting projects, as well as to recommend best practices of consulting companies and other student lead consulting groups.

Over eight weeks, the team conducted secondary research to look into best practices of both universities and other companies similar to Hike. Both the companies and the universities were weighted using a metric and narrowed down to three specific universities and companies do go more in-depth into their best practices.

Primary research was conducted in the form of in-depth interviews and an online survey. Eight in-depth interviews were conducted between both the School of Business and the School of Construction at BCIT, to get an idea of what specific students responses would be towards a company like Hike. A Survey was sent out through BCIT to get responses from a wide variety of BCIT students to gauge their interest in gaining consulting experience in between school semesters.

At the end of the eight weeks, the team compiled their research and findings into a report, and presented recommendations as to how Hike can reach students.
