Symptoms such as unnecessary product movement, long manufacturing lead-time, lack of plant space, and scattered work cells make it increasingly difficult for Glastech to grow its business in their current warehouse facilities.
BCIT team Chris Locke and Blake Ashforth developed and recommended an optimal plant layout that would enable Glastech to move into a new facility and grow 7% annual over the next 7 years while maintaining safety, logistical flow and space utilization. The recommended that Glastech should have another BCIT team or a consulting team to develop ways of controlling and measuring raw and scrap materials as well as a warehouse management system that would help organize and maintain safety within the new facility.
