Coast Hotels is a large western North American regional chain of hotels and resorts. They are a mid-range hotel company with properties in Canada and the United States. They own, manage, and franchise properties and are continually expanding. Their philosophy is to be committed to exceptional service, a high standard of value, and guest satisfaction.

Interview and reference checking templates were created based on the organization’s core competencies and research on best practices for both topics. Questions were created based on the organization’s six job levels using eight core competencies and four identified skill levels. Guides were created to facilitate the overall interviewing and reference checking process. A PowerPoint presentation and two guides were created as recommended tools for future training at Coast Hotels. Electronic copies of the interview and reference checking templates and training guides were provided in electronic format for Coast Hotels to make available in their human resources information systems. As an added value portion of the project, a set of technical questions were created for a specific position within the company. The company had also mentioned they were interested in creating templates for their technical questions in the future.
